This 2 hour session will focus on several topics that are important to our community and it's continuing dialogue with the school district.
Topics for this Community Conversation are:
1) Should the District facilities, programs and services be available to the broader community?
2) How can the District improve methods of Communication?
Please join our community in celebrating our commitment to a safe prom night for all Unionville High School students and their dates.
The 2009 After Prom Walk Through is a great opportunity for community members to come view the wonderful theme that was selected this year, you will be amazed by what you are seeing!
Saturday, May 16th 2009 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The Lost Bayou Ramblers have toured much of the United States, including performances at the International Country Music Conference in Nashville, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens’ Chile Pepper Fiesta, and the New Orleans Jazz fest and historic Preservation Hall. Their most recent releases Bayou Perdu and Une Tasse Café: Mellow Joy Boys are receiving critical acclaim across North America and Europe. Whether performing in their native Louisiana or abroad, the group passionately embraces their cultural and music heritage. Their music stems from a time before electricity, when the Gulf Coast’s incapacitating heat only amplified the backbreaking stresses associated with the toil necessary to sustain a successful farm. Their music is emotionally raw, intense- in a word, authentically Cajun.
Ticket Prices: General- $10, Student/Senior - $8
UCFSD “MEET THE SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES NIGHT” – WED, MAY 13, 7 PM
The Primary election is May 19, 2009. The Chester County League of Women Voters has partnered with the UCFSD PTOs to host a “Meet The Candidates Night” on Wednesday, May 13th at 7pm in the UHS auditorium. All school board candidates are invited to participate and share their platforms with the public. The audience will have a chance to write questions on index cards, which will be presented to the League of Women Voter’s moderator, and asked of all the candidates. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear first hand how the candidates respond to current issues facing our district. While not all school district townships have seats expiring this year, all UCFSD residents are encouraged to attend and participate. (Only residents of Region A and Region B can vote at the Primary on 5/19/09.)
There are 7 candidates running for 4 seats whose terms expire this year.
Details:
Region A (East Marlborough and West Marlborough Townships) – has 4 candidates running for 2 seats. After 8 years of service, current Board President Kathy Brown will not be seeking re-election and Karen Halstead will be running for her second term. Jeff Hellrung and Keith Knauss, who previously served on the UCFSD Board of Education, are running and Vic Dupuis is seeking his first seat on the board.
Region B (Newlin, Pocopson, and Birmingham Townships) - has 3 candidates running for 2 seats which are currently held by Ed Murray and Therese West, neither of whom are seeking re-election. The three candidates running in Region B are Jeff Leiser, Holly Manzone, and Laura Maurer.
WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ON MAY 13th!
